Net Income
The profit left after subtracting all expenses, interest, and taxes.
Also called: net profit, bottom line
What it means
Net income is the bottom-line profit a company reports after all expenses are included, such as operating costs, interest, taxes, and certain other gains or losses. It can be positive or negative.
Why it matters
It is one of the most watched profit numbers, but it should be reviewed alongside cash flow and margin quality.
