Cash generated or used by the company’s normal business operations.
Also called: cash flow from operations, CFO
What it means
Operating cash flow shows how much cash the company generated from its core business activities during a period. It adjusts accounting earnings for noncash items and working-capital changes.
Why it matters
It helps users judge whether the business is producing real cash from operations, not just accounting income.
